WPT Season #6: Mirage Poker Showdown $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em

WPT, 2007-05-25, by Ozone

The World Poker Tour launched its sixth season this week at Mirage in Las Vegas. Over 300 players coughed up the $10,000 to participate. Phil Ivey entered the final table of six as the chipleader. This was the seventh WPT final table appearance of his career, his first since the WPT Championship of season three. Unfortunately for Ivey, he went out in 5th place ($129,000) after having his flush cracked by an opponent's full house draw.

Already at his second WPT final table in 2007 and his third final table at the Mirage Poker Showdown, Jonathan Little won the event which paid $1,091,000. The win moves Little to second place behind J.C. Tran on the 2007 Player of the Year standings. Cory Carroll, fresh off of a win at the Caesars Palace WSOP Circuit Event, finished 2nd which paid $561,000. Darrel "Gigabet" Dicken won $259,000 for third place. Richard Kirsch and Amnon Filippi finished fourth and sixth, respectively.

The second event of WPT Season Six takes place next week on the south side of the Vegas Strip at Mandalay Bay for the Mandalay Bay Poker Championship.
