38th Annual World Series of Poker Starts Tomorrow
WSOP, 2007-05-31, by Ozone
Poker's biggest festival of tournaments starts tomorrow and will run continuously for 47 days until a new World Champion is crowned. This year's WSOP features 55 events, many of which have never been played for a bracelet in the past. New to this year's schedule is mixed hold'em, a game that rotates between limit and no-limit betting every 30 minutes. Tomorrow, the world championship of this event, a $5,000 buy-in, will mark the launch of this year's WSOP.
Also new this year is a $5,000 buy-in heads-up tournament scheduled for June 19th. Last year's inaugural $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. tournament was popular enough to return to this year's schedule. Of course, the series will conclude with the $10,000 buy-in no-limit hold'em world championship, which starts July 6th. All of this action will take place at the Rio in Las Vegas, which is serving its third consecutive year as home to the WSOP.
