2007 WSOP Event #55: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em World Championship

In perhaps an unrivaled showing of dominance at a WSOP Main Event Final Table, Jerry Yang eliminated all eight of his opponents yesterday and captured the title of 2007 World Champion. Yang, an American, won $8,250,000, which moved him into 7th place on the all-time tournament winnings list. This was his first money finish in a major poker tournament. Last year's champion, Jamie Gold, retains a $1.5 million lead over Daniel Negreanu on the all-time winnings list.

Yang's final knockout was dealt to Canadian internet qualifier Tuan Lam. Second place earned Lam $4,840,000. South African player Raymond Rahme came up just short on his guarantee to take a World Championship back to Africa; he finished 3rd, good for $3,048,000.

Philip Hilm came into the day as the chipleader and blazed out in 9th place on just the 15th hand of play at the final table.
