2008 WSOP Event #3 and #4

Yesterday at the WSOP, two pros each won their first career bracelet. When the day started, each of them were widely considered to be among the best players never to have captured WSOP gold.
In event #3, a $1,500 buy-in pot-limit hold'em tournament, David Singer arrived at the final table eighth in chips. A few hours later, he was strapping a bracelet on his wrist after triumphing over a field of 713. The win earned him $214,000, which oddly enough was just his third largest cash at the WSOP. In each of its first two runnings, Singer finished 6th in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. tournament.
A field of 332 turned out for event #4, a $5,000 mixed hold'em tournament. Mixed hold'em changes between limit and no-limit betting from level to level. This tournament featured a final table chalk full of pros. The heads-up battle came down to two fantastic players each in search of their first bracelet. Representing young poker players who honed their skills in online games was Justin Bonomo. The old school veterans were rooting for Erick Lindgren. Although Bonomo started heads-up play with a 3:2 chip lead, it was Lindgren's day to shine. Along with his first career bracelet, he earned a cool $375,000. While Bonomo logged the largest cash of his career, $230,000, he will have to wait another day for a bracelet.
Rounding out the rest of the final table, from third to ninth, was: Andrew Robl ($144,000), Roland de Wolfe, David Rheem, Howard Lederer, David Williams, Pat Pezzin, and Isaac Haxton.
In a tournament where pros truly did shine, Chau Giang, Andy Bloch, Robert Williamson III, Phil Laak, Patrik Antonius, and Andy Black also finished in the money.
